Three Years of Commitment, Innovation and Impact: The Green ASC VET Journey

As the final conference of the Green ASC VET project in the European Parliament approaches, I find myself reflecting not only on the results we have achieved over the past three years, but also on the remarkable journey that made those results possible

From the very beginning, our consortium shared a common vision: to create practical, high-quality and sustainable educational resources that would genuinely improve career guidance and vocational education opportunities for individuals on the autism spectrum. While every Erasmus+ project is defined by planned activities and expected outcomes, our ambition was never limited to delivering only what had been written in the project proposal.

Our goal was to create something truly useful.

Throughout the project implementation, whenever we identified an opportunity to improve a result, add a new feature, develop an additional resource, or increase the accessibility and practical applicability of content for autistic learners and trainees, partners never asked whether additional funding was available for such activities. No one looked for reasons why something could not be done. No one pointed to a lack of time.

Instead, the entire consortium remained focused on one simple question:

What more can we do to better support people on the autism spectrum?

This way of thinking became one of the defining characteristics of the Green ASC VET project

Every project result was enhanced and expanded beyond its original scope. Educational materials were developed beyond their initial framework. Digital content became richer and more accessible. Training materials became more practical. Career guidance tools became more comprehensive and informative. Importantly, the outcomes of the project are not limited to autistic individuals. They are equally applicable to people with disabilities, individuals with intellectual difficulties, and neurotypical individuals without disabilities. Dissemination activities also reached a significantly wider audience than we had originally anticipated.

Most importantly, every improvement was driven by a desire to ensure that the final results would be applicable in real educational settings, useful to vocational education professionals, relevant to employers, and meaningful and beneficial to people on the autism spectrum and their families.

The results we present today are therefore much more than project deliverables. They are the product of thousands of hours of collaboration, creativity, expertise and genuine commitment from all project partners.

Behind every project result stands a team of dedicated professionals from six different countries and seven organisations who contributed their knowledge, skills and experience to this initiative. Equally important, many people on the autism spectrum participated directly or indirectly in the development of the project outcomes, helping us ensure that the resources reflect the real needs and experiences of end users.

The project has also demonstrated the true strength of European cooperation. Different perspectives, cultures and professional backgrounds became one of our greatest assets. Through joint efforts, we developed solutions that no single organisation could have created alone.

Perhaps the most valuable aspect of this journey has been witnessing how a shared commitment to inclusion can transform ideas into real opportunities. Green ASC VET is not simply a project about educational materials or innovative technologies. It is a project that opens doors. A project that helps people on the autism spectrum better understand career opportunities, explore different professions, and gain greater confidence in planning their future

As the project coordinator, I would like to express my sincere gratitude to every partner organisation, expert, teacher, employer, stakeholder and every person on the autism spectrum who has been part of this journey. Their energy, knowledge, empathy and determination enabled us not only to achieve our planned objectives but to exceed them significantly.

The story of Green ASC VET demonstrates that quality is not merely a project requirement but a commitment. Sustainability is not simply a project objective but a responsibility. Inclusion is not just a concept but a reality that we build together.

much more than an opportunity to showcase project results. It is a recognition of the collective effort, dedication and enthusiasm demonstrated by every member of the consortium throughout the past three years.

As we prepare to present our results in Brussels, we do so with pride, knowing that what we have created together has the potential to continue opening new opportunities for people on the autism spectrum across Europe for many years after the project officially concludes.

The Green ASC VET project may be approaching its conclusion, but the impact of everything we have created together is only just beginning.
